The Language of Dress: Resistance and Accommodation in Jamaica, 1750-1890

This book is a study of how African enslaved language culture and society and freed women used their fashion language culture and society and style of dress as a symbol of resistance to slavery language culture and society and accommodation to white culture in pre- language culture and society and post-emancipation society.
